"As one person we can make only a small impact, but together we can become a mighty river, reaching a lost and needy world with the remarkable
love of God."
Amy has loved music for as long as she can remember. Her mom recalls her singing before she could talk.
"When I was a kid, I sang and whistled constantly... it was my plan to become the official whistler on the TV show Lassie. I was going to take over the job of the guy that whistled the theme song. I had no concept of how TV or radio worked or the recording business for that matter..."
With five albums under her belt, she finally gets it... "It's a lot different than I could have imagined when I was whistling to Lassie," she laughs at herself. Indeed, for the past 25 years singing (and a little bit of whistling too) has been her life. She has sung all over the United States, Canada and parts of Europe bringing her music to churches, conference centers, radio stations and women's groups. A wife and mother of four boys, Amy's life was full and happy. But in the spring of 2007, life as she knew it came to a screeching halt when her husband of 20 years walked out forever.
"I remember how unusually warm the days had been. It caused all the trees and flowers to bloom earlier than usual and it was so beautiful with the dogwoods and redbuds full of blossoms. Then on the night of "my terrible sadness," a hard freeze unexpectedly occurred, leaving a devastated landscape all over the South. Every flower and plant was dead and it was as if Nature was cruelly mirroring my life. Just the day before my life had been full and happy and fragrant and then overnight my heart was laid waste and barren."
"I found it almost impossible to care about anything except surviving." To add insult to injury, the summer that followed was one of the driest and hottest on record and what hadn't died in the freeze was quickly withered. "My beautiful garden was completely dead. I stopped singing and battled to survive the shock of what had happened to my marriage and my family."
"I never saw it coming and didn't understand why this was happening to me," recalls Amy. "There were so many nights that I lay there, hardly able to breath or even swallow and all I could do was say the name of Jesus over and over. His name gave me the strength to make it through one more day." "Two and a half years later, the garden at my house has returned as well as the garden of my heart. Both are blooming and there is music in my life once again." Amy is excited to share her new songs. "Her Way Home" is a song about a woman who was waiting to be rescued but then comes to the realization that she already has been given the ability and strength by God to rescue herself.
"Having my marriage end really caused me to ask some tough questions of myself and to make some important life decisions. One thing I have determined to do is to greet each day with a grateful heart. Life changes can usher in hard times and they can be painful, but in the long run, we are hopefully better for it. Never did I ever doubt that God was with me and my faith is stronger than ever because I saw and continue to see His hand on my life. He has given me what I call my 'secret weapons'-- grace and forgiveness. I try every day to extend them to myself and to those who have hurt me." "I am grateful that the 'terrible sadness' is farther away and I am so happy to be singing and making music again...I smell the roses again."
"I loved your ministry of music. And not just the quality of your voice, but the way you communicated. Sincere and honest, straight forward and uncluttered. Whether it was your perfect pitch, or the 'not too much but right' way you expressed yourself with your hands. everything that you did pointed to Jesus and not to yourself."

Amy was deeply impacted after a trip to Romania. Upon arriving back here in the states she got together with several of her musician friends and wrote the song Feed One. This song was based off of a famous quote by mother Theresa, "If you cannot feed one-hundred then feed one." Amy recorded this song and it has since been used by many different organizations who are bringing the Gospel to the poor, hungry and destitute of the world.
